The census: They say the censor watches the watchmen, and his power is absolute.

In December of 2023
Much hay was made, as you might see--
Of "substack", the platform, then, du jour
Of who would censor whom, and more
The censor is always absolute you see
From Rome until the modern day;
Ever present, but sometimes a fool,
Overstepping the bounds, being a tool
So far too blunt to ever rule.
