Despite
Poemata LXV

I love you, despite forgetting
-- forgetting everything all the time;
I hope you won't be fretting
whenever something brings me to mind;
I love you, despite not being
-- not being what all I promised to be
I know you must be seeing
the years to make much less of me;
I love you despite it raining
-- and rain running through an unseen crack
I hope you haven't been blaming
the weeds and thorns for what I lack;
I love you despite my running
-- running away from battles of mine
I know that yet you're gunning
for us to win at least one time;
Yes, I love you despite my folly
Despite the fact I cannot show
Anything for the years revolving
Despite the fact you cannot know
That I love you, despite regretting
-- regretting as life is lost to time
So before I began forgetting
I wrote it here, a little rhyme.
