Epigrammata LXXV

man made meat fact’ries / they are beyond meat, enow / friend even in death

So tame and sure, the servants of man
One could forget that animals can
Just lose their lives when losing their work
In saving the whales, a surprise may lurk
No one can afford to feed them all
These friends and food, I'm fain to call
The eco-fascists' idea complete --
But billions will die, to drop all meat
And not yet have enough to eat.
