ALUMINUM, if we were to follow
The real logic of words, just below
The prestige of “linguistics”, we find
That the “bitter metal”, once refined
From alum, is more than iron the key
To our bitter age of flight; to be
Light and stiff like birds or flies
Math’s but astronomy to the wise
And chemistry? The mixing of dyes.
