Epigrammata LXXVIII

A tradition is born.

For us there cannot be a doubt
What this whole thing is now about
Yet in knowing, at its root
The shoe is on the other foot?
The king they tried to put to shame
Had more than just his fam'ly name
And crowned his own successor? Yes--
Without the council, vizier, the rest?
Tho' old still knows a few things best.
